Smiling is one act that may impact someone's day from the film The Blind audio here http://www.entertonement.com/clips/drbfmgmsxl--18 and the can be better illustrated here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hn5-pxWM6k at about 47 second mark. You can see how the boy says it so passionately. Also saying hello to people Jew & Gentiles thus doing Derech Eretz. I would like to illustrate this with a story. The Alter of Slabodka (Rabbi Nosson Tzvi Finkel) who was sent by his Rebbe to learn in another Yeshiva. The Alter struggled to understand why his Rebbe has done this. Later on there was a Din Torah in which the Alter was involved as a Dayan (Judge) regarding counterfeit merchandise the Alter was put on trial for having knowledge of counterfeit merchandise was being trafficked and thus the government was not collecting taxes on the merchandise. However the Alter was merely a Dayan and the government was using the Alter as a scapegoat. At the trial a policeman asked the Judge if he can say a few words on behalf of the Rabbi Nosson Tzvi Finkel the courtroom was silenced. The policeman said that everyday this Bochur (Young Man) R' Finkel who was always said hello to him in the town where his Rebbe years ago sent him too. Since he had such respect of government then there is no way he would swindle the government now the Judge threw out the case. Small thoughtful act of kindness R' Green.
